Youth Mental Health Centre
A project that aims to create a functioning youth mental health centre by repurposing an existing heritage building, utilising key principles of adaptive reuse and accessibility within the University of Sydney precinct, and proposes a dialogue between memory and innovation, by transforming a heritage site into a mental health hub. The aim was to further establish ways young people can access wellbeing facilities near them and how these programs can extend and engage with the local community to develop socialising, a sense of belonging and celebrate the existing landscape. The project brief stimulates an objective to explore and integrate notions of adaptive reuse and re-imagining the conditions between this concept through spaces of mental health, interactions with the site through Country, and thresholds that transition people through the site.
